nuptales rings - gemstones

‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend’. This popular phrase has resulted with the diamond being the most popular stone encrusted on engagement or wedding rings. However there are actually a wide variety of different coloured stones/gems to choose from, which are equally as beautiful and can symbolise some very special personal meanings.

Ruby’s are red, sapphires are blue, and choosing the right coloured stone is a big decision for you….. Guys, if you are selecting a coloured stone on an engagement ring, ensure it is a colour that your partner likes and suits her style. For example if your partner really suits the colour red, selecting a green stone would probably not be the best idea. A nice idea is to research into your partner’s birthstone. Birthstone’s hold a special meaning and can be a very personal touch. Take a look at her other jewellery and see if there is a particular colour stone that may compliment the rest of her jewellery collection.

In addition to this, remember that the engagement ring will eventually sit on top of her wedding band, so be careful that the stone is not too over the top, an awkward shape or uncomfortable for her to wear.

A splash of colour can give a ring that added edge and personality. Gemstones are normally cheaper than diamonds, so you may be able to afford to go for a larger stone. Look into some of the meanings of colours and find one that would be appropriate for your partner, e.g yellow stones stand for generosity.

Gemstones come in categories of symbolism. The most fitting for a wedding would commonly be the symbol of love; however you could also choose from stones that symbolise protection, good luck, power, money or healing.
