Welcome to Nuptales speeches section. Traditionally there are three speeches carried out at the reception. These include a speech from the father of the bride, the groom and finally the best man’s speech.

The toast master (or the best man) should call upon the bride’s father. The speech should begin by welcoming the groom’s parents, relatives of both sides of the family and all other guests. The father of the bride should say a few kind words about his daughter on her special day and conclude the speech by toasting ‘health and happiness’ to the bride and groom.

The speech should begin by responding to the former speech on behalf of the bridesmaids. As a best man it is his duty to produce the ‘best speech’ and aim to be a highlight of the reception. The speech can be humorous, light hearted and fun giving all guests something to remember (the pressures on!)

The groom responds to the previous speech on behalf of himself and his bride, taking the chance to thank his parents. He also uses this opportunity to thank all of the guests present for the wedding gifts. He should also wish a speedy recovery to any members of the family that are absent from the wedding due to illness.
To conclude the speeches, the groom should propose a toast to the bridesmaids, thanking them for all their help and work with the wedding. As a token of appreciation it is usual for the groom to present the bridesmaid’s with a small gift.

It is becoming increasingly more popular for the bride to say a few words on her wedding day, especially
if someone close to her could not attend the wedding, or if she would like to express her
feelings about her new husband, her entourage or the day in general.
